Kenya Missions Trip!

On November 29th, 2003, six teenagers from all over Michigan (who have taken the summer missionary training with Child Evangelism Fellowship® called Christian Youth in Action®) and I headed to Kenya, Africa. Joseph Kavuli, CEF Regional Director of East and Central Africa, asked us to come and help with the training of their teens at CYIATM training in Nairobi.

The experience changed our lives as we were involved not only with the training of their teen missionaries but also in the outreach to area children. Children that exist in conditions that we have never seen before as approximately one million children live in garbage in the slums around Nairobi. Through the 5-Day Clubs® and "open air" (where we evangelized into the slums) there were 827 children reached with the gospel with 425 decisions for Christ!!! PTL! !

The teens and I were also involved in a Sunday Service at Joseph Kavuli's church about 3 hours outside of Nairobi. It was a blessing for us to be with these African people who have such a love for the Lord! They walk many miles each Sunday to gather to worship.

The church is over 50 years old with just wooden benches to sit on. I was very touched by the "Joy of Jesus" against a backdrop of very little material comfort.

Central Michigan CEF hopes to help Joseph's church and CEF of East and Central Africa reach the countless children with some financial support as God provides (Central Michigan's CEF funds are also very low).

We returned to Michigan on December 17"', 2003 with a greater vision for global missions. Joseph Kavuli has asked me to return. Jim and I are seeking God's direction as part of my heart stayed in Kenya with the countless children there. Thank you for all of your prayers and financial support. God bless you richly for helping the teens and I experience Africa!
